As outreach is such a large part of what we do, we have started to provide outreach training for our members. The training will introduce you to the workshops we have planned and any new kits we may be using on our school visits.
You will also meet other FemEng members that are interested in volunteering to help tackle the gender imbalance within engineering, so it's another great way to network within university!
If you are interested in the outreach training, keep an eye on our social media pages as we post about sessions often! You could also send an email to see if we have any upcoming events.
2022-2023 Events
We are partnering with RS Grass Roots again this year to provide soft skills workshops to our members! The first workshop of the year will give tips on how to make impactful presentations. Join us on October 24th at 6pm using the link below: https://uofglasgow.zoom.us/j/83003372179?pwd=RFI2UVNYTGVvdWpDdE55YUJIL3dIUT09
2022
Outreach training was organised with the RAF for our volunteer mentors to receive training for the Mechano and Sphero Bots. This teaches our mentors the best tips and tricks on how to use to equipment available to provide an engaging and informative session.
Grassroots have delivered workshops on a range of softskills, which can be used going forward to provide a better quality session. These workshops were available to all UofG students.
2021
To adapt to the pandemic, outreach training was provided virtually. Mentors and members were taught how to take online calls of their own.
2020
FemEng organised an Outreach Training event for all members to attend to gain more confidence and tips/tricks on how best to deliver workshops with the resources available to our society - Mechano and Ozobots. They also ran through various activities which would be useful to adopt for our outreach workshops
We were extremely grateful that over the years we have had the opportunities to learn from some wonderful and knowledgeable people: Alan Cameron from the RAF Robyn Heslin from Thales Grassroots They were able to spare a couple of hours out of their busy schedules to share their experiences and provide training for a variety of equipment used in the Outreach events we put on.
